Maria Droste Counseling Center addresses community needs by making mental healthcare more accessible to community members and reducing barriers to care including transportation, cost, lack of child care, and stigma. To do so, we integrate counselors into places where people are already receiving services including K-12 schools, family justice centers, primary care offices, and senior living facilities.
We are known for being a premier training site for graduate-level therapists and seek to embed the importance of our mission into this training program.
The grant from Impact100 allowed clinicians at Maria Droste to provide critical services during the COVID-19 pandemic. The support of the grant allowed us to quickly shift to telehealth to continue serving the community and supporting mental wellness during one of the most stressful times our communities have ever known.
Not only did grant funding help us support virtual training of our counselors but in turn allowed them to continue seeing clients in need of support. Funding from Impact100 has allowed us to expand our service region and embed counselors in healthcare facilities in rural Colorado. We collaborated on the SECO Win initiative to provide care to historically under-served areas for the next two years. Impact100 is different from other funders in that they provide wraparound support. There is not just fiscal support but a facilitation of connection with other organizations that may develop into lasting partnerships. Because it’s made up of individual women with diverse passions, the group itself is more collaborative.
The level of support both financially and in the community creates immense potential to scaleup our work and make significant change.
