In 2018, MTR had the privilege of receiving a grant from Impact100 Greater Chesapeake to purchase three much needed vehicles.
Maryland Therapeutic Riding (MTR) improves the quality of life of children, adults, active military and veterans with special needs by connecting humans and horses in a healing environment. We are accredited at the highest level based on best practices of rider safety and quality of horse care.
In 2018, MTR had the privilege of receiving a grant from Impact100 Greater Chesapeake to purchase three much needed vehicles: a 2019 Toyota Tundra, 2019 Homesteader Stallion 214FB Horse Trailer and a 2015 John Deere 825I XUV Gator. The impact from purchasing these vehicles has been and will be felt at MTR for ten or more years.
These vehicles have already given us the ability to:
• Respond to emergency incidents as quickly and efficiently as possible and get to the scene of any emergency on our 25-acre farm within moments
• Allow retirees and individuals with disabilities to participate in our Volunteer Program, which is the heart of MTR, with over 200 volunteers scheduled each week
• Expand our services beyond the farm for awareness and education and to take our riders off-site for horse shows or other competitions
• Provide the highest quality of care to our beloved equine partners Words and metrics do not convey the tremendous impact these vehicles have already had on Maryland Therapeutic Riding.
Impact100 has benefited those in our community with special needs by allowing our volunteers and staff more time and energy to focus on our mission. They make a tangible difference in organizations like ours and the local community.
