Our Impact100 grant provided the funding to establish a Certification and Employment Pathways program in 2018.
Operation Flinders transforms young people’s lives through an evidence-based outback intervention program. The program provides young men and women who have been identified as “at-risk” with demanding outdoor challenges and ongoing support to help them develop self-esteem, motivation, leadership, teamwork and responsibility, so they may grow as valued members of the community. Participants are confronted with physical, emotional and psychological challenges in an isolated and unfamiliar environment, and the program helps to rebuild their confidence through positive experience and achievement.
Activities include daily cross country hikes, abseiling, team building activities, bush survival skills, first aid skills, and an understanding of indigenous culture. More than 8,500 young people have participated in the program. The Operation Flinders program is a vital circuit breaker to help youth make positive choices, to stay engaged in education or jobs and to provide further leadership and personal development opportunities.
Our Impact100 grant provided the funding to establish a Certification and Employment Pathways program in 2018 that provides further leadership opportunities for graduates of the Operation Flinders program by equipping them with skills to make them more employable, benefitting their long-term futures. The program specifically focuses on long-term followup support, training and coordination to maximise job opportunities and educational outcomes.
As a result of their participation, graduates show a positive desire to take the next step in their personal development. Impact100 is a unique giving program where all members are able to make a significant impact to organisations that are awarded grant funding.
Working with Impact100 provides an opportunity for organisations to expand their services, establish new projects and build their sustainability.
