The Rainbow Connection

The Rainbow Connection makes dreams come true for Michigan children with life threatening medical conditions. We have granted wishes to over 3,800 children, including Disney Vacations, shopping sprees and even celebrity meet and greets. A granted wish provides lifelong memories and a needed distraction from illness. Unlike other wish-granting organizations, our Special Response Program addresses unexpected hardships many families face in a medical crisis, such as food, gas, car repairs, clothing, and utilities. During the pandemic, we saw first-hand how many of our wish families experienced a tremendous increase in financial distress due to job layoffs, reduced pay/hours, and inability to work due to having children with compromised immune systems. Thanks to Impact100 Oakland County, The Rainbow Connection assisted over 140 families struggling with necessities like groceries and gas: “This year has been so hard on us. We are really struggling and I am so thankful for the support from The Rainbow Connection to keep my granddaughter warm.” Impact100 not only funded our Special Response efforts for three years, they became volunteers and helped spread our message. Their grant helped demonstrate the worthiness of our efforts to other funding sources, resulting in additional dollars secured for Special Response needs throughout the state of Michigan. When we are in need of some guidance and contacts for unique wishes that arise, the Impact100 team has provided meaningful connections. Several wishes have come to fruition based on those contacts that were shared. Together we have made Oakland County a better place.
